The Hermosa Beach Lawn Bowling Club marked its 90th anniversary with a memorable celebration of TRADITION, HISTORY, and COMMUNITY.

Built on the theme “90 Years Strong,” the event celebrated lawn bowling’s core values—sportsmanship, etiquette, and friendly competition—while recognizing the legacy of past members and the dedication of long-standing current members.

In the days leading up to the event, members prepared the green, patio, and clubhouse, transforming the Clark Building into a welcoming space for guests.

The celebration came to life with a 1936-inspired theme—traditional white attire, period music, and vintage décor creating a timeless atmosphere.

The Club proudly welcomed partners including the City of Hermosa Beach, Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce, Hermosa Beach Historical Society, and Kiwanis Club, along with support from Learned Lumber, Bonaparte, Bolt, and Two Spoons.

Members playing their regular Saturday social bowls in traditional whites created a standout moment. Guests joined in with lawn bowling lessons or enjoyed the Taste of Hermosa Coffee & Dessert service and Hermosa Mimosas on the patio.

As HBLBC looks toward its centennial, plans include clubhouse improvements, new stadium lighting, reseeding the original green, and exploring a youth lawn bowling program under the proud leadership of President Tony Crutchfield.

The 90th Anniversary Celebration Committee highlighted the personal rewards of volunteering and charitable giving in hosting this special event for members, their invited guests and City, Civic and Business Leaders.

The celebration captured the true spirit of HBLBC—and marked the beginning of the journey to the next 90 years!
